May 19, 2025 – Today the US Supreme Court issued an emergency order lifting an injunction prohibiting the Trump Administration from ending Temporary Protected Status “TPS” status for 300,000 Venezuelans. The emergency order stays the decision from the US District Court, Northern District of California, on March 31, 2025 which halted the termination of TPS for Venezuela. An appeal of the underlying decision is still pending in the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals. The government action to terminate TPS for Venezuela impacted 300,000 in April 2025 and will impact another 300,000 in September 2025.
